Rainy season is slowly encroaching on us. Kaohsiung becomes rainier and rainier every week. Weekends always seem to get the worst of the weather. This weekend was no exception.
Although we had plans of baseball and the beach, Saturday gave us an extremely heavy rain advisory. We live in the tropics and are used to rain that goes away after half an hour. The rain on Saturday never stopped. It just went on and on.
Rainy days are good in some regards. They allow us to contemplate the last year we’ve spent in Taiwan and where is the next step. To miss our past lives and our families, contemplating all we’ve missed in the past year. To sit on our balcony and watch the rain wash away all the hardships of the past year, leaving only shining, pure memories.
(The rainy season also happens to coincide nicely with the summer blockbuster season. This means we go to the cinema often. We’ve already seen Star Trek, The Great Gatsby, and Iron Man 3.)
